Magical Abilities
The source of the people of Peschian's magic is their Souls. The bond of a person and their Soul creates a strong energy within their body, creating a well of untapped power within their mind and when they tap into it makes them able to manipulate the energy of the world of Perish with just a word, a movement, or a symbol. Each person is born to a certain type of magic, it depends on what runs through their family, it is possible to learn new types of magic within the magical strain you are born into, however it is impossible to learn a totally different type of magic. Though with magic comes a price, it severely taxes the energy of the person using it if using a stronger kind of magic. Runes have levels of of strength the stronger they are the more energy is taken from the user, Elemental magic tends to take more physical strength and more mental focus, and Incantations are draining no matter what you use.
Runic Magic: Runes are a strong magic, but they are considered the weaker of the three types because they are more limited in their use. They are usually used for making daily life possible in the world of Perish, because anyone with a Soul or the remnants of a Soul can power them once they are inscribed on something, assuming they are a low enough level of Rune. Complex Runes however can only be made by a high level Inscriber and usually can only be powered by Runic Magic users. Runes are inscribed on an object with a Tule (Tool- a metal stick-like quill), which burns the Rune into said object and makes it possible to activate it with magic at any time. Runes are often used to buff armor or weapons, make bombs or potions, etc.
An object/person can hold only a single Rune. However it is always possible to change them, but never remove them. Once a rune is on an object it must stay there. Runes can be changed into something completely different with just a single stroke, there are sometimes imperceptible differences with Runes, but just one dot out of place or one line and it will mean something totally opposite of what the user wants.
There are also Tattooers, though those with Runic Tattoos are looked down upon with disgust. It is extremely painful to inscribe a Rune into your own skin, as it transfers over to your Soul. It feels like something is burning your brain and heart at the same time and whenever the Rune is activated the burn feels fresh. However it is extremely useful in a fight and people are not above using Tattooers in a hard battle.
Elemental Magic: Elemental Magic stems from the six elements; Fire, Water/Ice, Wind, Earth, Light, and Shadow. All these Elements do different things, and an Elementalist can master up to three different elements. Fire can be used to do anything from sparking a torch to life to creating a wall of flame to protect yourself depending on you mastery of the element, etc. Water/Ice masters have the ability to create water from the hydrogen and oxygen molecules in the air and if paired with the right combination of other elements a master of water/ice can also summon storms, etc. Wind has the ability to call tornadoes or twisters and also slow someone falling, etc. Earth Elementalists can use their power to grow plants faster or move rocks or dirt to their will, etc. Light users can heal wounds and they can blind people with flashes of light, etc. Shadow users can control the shadows to hide them when sneaking around, or trap people in a globe of darkness, etc.
Elementalists control their power with specific movements, much like martial arts poses, they are like a dance which flow into each other. The more controlled the movements, the more they flow into each other the stronger the magic tends to be. The wrong movements can cause your own magic to backfire on upon you however. It takes physical endurance and mental focus to be able to keep up the movements when your energy starts to get sapped after using the magic.
Incantation Magic: Incantations are considered the strongest battle magic that exist in Perish. Casters, as they are called in short, tend to be heavy hitters when it comes to hitting with Power Words that cause a lot of damage. Though Incantations aren't just for battle, they can do everything from healing wounds, to lighting a space up, to making potions. It's just using Power Words tend to take a lot of magical energy even if it's just a lower level spell. However because of this they tend to have a little bit of a larger well to pull from. Power Words are spoken in an ancient Perish language that is universal through out the world. Without extensive study into each word and a full understanding of what it will do, it will often backfire on it's Caster.
Magic in Battle: The higher level of magic that is used, the longer between posting your next attack. So if your magic is considered a higher level magic, such as stronger Power Words or more complex Runes, you MUST wait at least two posts of your own in between each magical attack. However this does not mean you cannot attack normally between them. Each magical attack must be cleared before the battle, like when setting rules for the fight you must not only set the number of hits and misses but also the number of higher level magics and lower level magics used.
