Kenrick Blackwood has decreed:
Laws
- Those seeking asylum within Viiten are subject to the Black Tax, ten percent of the goods in their hold paid to the Archon. Failure to pay the Black Tax will result in being black listed by the Viiten monarchy. Those willing may circumvent the Black Tax by acquiring a letter of marquis. Those in possession of a letter can be called upon during war time to act as privateers. Failure to report for duty will result in the letter of marquis being revoked and being black listed.
- The first born child of every family, regardless of gender, is required to serve a five year term in the militia. Families failing to produce more than one child are exempt from the draft. After the eldest's eighteenth birthday they have one week to report to Castle Viiten for assignment. Failure to report for duty is considered treason and punishable by death.
- The Altars along Temple Alley are hallowed. Desecrating any of these altars is a grave offense punishable by impressment into the military.
- Any citizen of Viiten that feels that they have been wronged is able to challenge the opposing party to a duel. All duels must be properly documented before taking place and require a second for both parties as well as a neutral member of the Viiten military to act as a judge. Duels are to take place in the Headsmans' Square at noon on the seventh day of the week. The judge has the ability to call the duel for any circumstance that they deem fit. Both parties are able to call upon a champion to fight in their place.
- Legal disputes that lack sufficient evidence to be resolved can be settled with a duel. Either party can claim the right of a duel with the accused party being able to set the parameters of the duel. The duel is fought to the death or until one party yields.
