Knox Blackwood
"Hello lovely
I'm corruption
I just noticed that you seemed a little down
Just sign right here on this line and
I can change your life "
the basics,
»»character full name: Archon Kenrick "Knox" Blackwood
»»age: 46
»»gender: Male
»»sexual orientation: Heterosexual
»»faction: Kingdom of Viiten
»»soul: Male Deinosuchus
»»magic: Runic
the appearance,
»»eyes: Knox's eyes are a murky brown, reminiscent of the marshlands his soul calls home.
»»markings: As the young lord of the most barbaric kingdom upon Perish, Knox bears multiple scars from small border skirmishes and raids. Small imperfections mar his entirety and more are constantly being added. His two most glaring disfigurements are a long, horizontal scar over his nose and his missing left hand. The scar that crosses over the bridge of his nose was earned at the age of sixteen during his first skirmish. A Perran blade cut a long score along his face from cheekbone to cheekbone, nearly severing his nose from his face. Thankfully, one of the healers present was able to repair the superficial damage. Knox, however, finds it difficult to breath from his nose since the incident. His habit of smoking cigarillos almost incessantly has not helped the issue in the slightest.
His left hand was lost several years late in another skirmish. What started as merely a nick upon the back of his hand quickly turned gangrenous. The healers were forced to amputate the appendage halfway up Knox's forearm. While many have come offering the Archon the latest in prosthetic Knox has opted to wear a large steel hook in place of a false hand. Knox's hook is a flattened two foot rod of steel bent into an oblong crescent. Tipped with a vicious barb Knox's prosthesis was designed to function both as a replacement for his hand as well as a weapon. As a Rune user Knox used to carry a Tule with him where ever he went. Upon gaining his hook he had several arcane craftsman work a runic tool into it in order to always have the ability to alter runes close at hand. Despite it's versatility Knox's prosthetic hook is incredibly plain in appearance having no frills and showing it years openly exemplifying his function over form mentality.
»»height: 6'4''
»»weight: 235 lbs
»»general appearance: Knox earned his nickname after enlisting in the Viiten military for his large stature and young age. Thirty years later Knox is still a giant of a man. Decades spent under the banner of his country and working upon the deck of various ships has hardened his muscles and darkened his skin. Coupled with his scarred features and missing hand the Archon cuts a rather imposing figure. Knox's stark black hair is worn at a medium length and swept back with several locks finding their way in front of the man's face. The nobleman often bears a solemn look upon his countenance his lips pulled in, constantly threatening a sneer, and his murky eyes roaming over his surrounding in a slow and deliberate manner. In the eye of the public he scarcely smiles, reserving even the barest of smirks for his associates, and genuine smiles for a select few. His time at sea has left it's scent upon the man, causing him to smell of the ocean that he loves so fervently.
Knox's attire reflects his status as Archon of Viiten without being overly ostentatious. Rich cloth crafted from the finest materials that can be acquired are sewn into form fitting black suits for the man. Beneath the suits he wears a crisp white shirt and a tie made of the same black material. These suits allow Knox a full range of motion though offer the man little in the way of protection. While Knox's father was Archon he refused to wear a crown and instead crafted a fur lined robe as his regalia of office. Since taking the throne Knox has continued to wear the robe, but has made various modifications since his father's time. The Black, as it is often called, has had chainmail placed between it's layers and inscribed with a rune of protection. Knox can always be seen wearing this magical armor, it being draped over his shoulders much like a cape.
Knox keeps a heavy cutlass strapped to his left hip with a leather belt. The scabbard and sword have little in the way of embellishment and have served Knox since his youth. It's basket hilt is as worn as it's wielder and blade even more so, but both are well maintained. Knox's missing hand prevents him from wielding the sword with as much finesse as he'd like and instead opts to use it's weight to his advantage. Because of this the blade hacks like a cleaver instead of slicing as most swords are designed to do. Along with the Black and his cutlass Knox can often be found with a cigarillo of tobacco and sweet scented herbs perched between his lips.
»»general Soul appearance: Knox possesses a savagery that no modern day creature could match. It was only natural when his soul manifested that it was something from a more volatile time. Carlisle is a monstrous crocodile from prehistoric times known as a Deinosuchus. Measuring forty feet from nose to tail and weighing nine tons the beast is one of the largest souls residing upon Perish. In spite of the reptiles large girth and length it only rises to Knox's waist, a little more than three feet from the ground. His thick, armor like skin is a forest green and littered with scars, much like his Tethered. Unlike his companion Carlisle's left foreleg grew back shortly after being severed, but is much lighter in color than the rest of his skin. Carlisle's eyes are a light yellow, speckled with flecks of black.
Carlisle is a slow moving creature and, due to his large size and inability to regulate his own body temperature, can often be found lounging in the sunlight. Knox's throne room has been fitted with a large orb in the center and inscribed with a rune that gives of warmth for his Soul's comfort. These factors prevent the creature from travelling too far from Viiten's seat of power. About the only time Carlisle can comfortably travel with his Tethered is when they travel by sea.

»»general personality: Knox is an ambitious and cunning man with very little in the way of morals. Once he's set his sights upon a goal there's nothing upon all of Perish that could sway him from his set course. To reach his goals he has no qualms about throwing his weight around, whether it be his physical, political, financial, or military weight. Since his ascension to the throne he's turned his gaze towards freeing his country of the tyranny of the current Emperor. The Archon openly despises the Emperor and while he hasn't made any aggressive acts against Perran he has been slowly building up Viiten's military and economical strength in preparation for armed conflict. Knox has never been one to shy away from a fight and when he sees the need to take action he will. It's only the tempering effect of his Soul and the council of a trusted few that have kept the man from entering open conflict.
As a ruler Knox is well respected by his peers and subjects. His presence upon the front lines of most military conflict has earned him their trust and admiration but his rather harsh views upon justice prevent him from being loved. Knox is not so much a fair man as much as he's an equal man, choosing to use a draconian law system; an eye for an eye, but such has always been the tradition of Viiten. When it is required of him Knox is capable of delivering rousing speeches to stir the hearts of his followers and, when it's called for, ease their concerns. He is in-tune with the needs and wants of the masses. Knox's kingdom has earned the ire of the others for their relationship with the criminal element. Ne'er do wells from all corners of Peschian come to Viiten to hideout. Knox, for better or worse, has earned a reputation with these criminals as an ally and, to some, a friend. In truth, Knox finds it easier to socialize among the criminal element than with nobles or commoners.
Within Viiten their is a law that states all first born must serve among the milita with no exceptions. Knox choose to join up with the Viiten navy at the age of sixteen rather than be forced into the militia at eighteen. It was there the young man fell in love with the sea and he truly came into his own. He proved himself to be a proud young man, quick with a sarcastic quip, and slow to rile. He distrusted just about everyone he first met, keeping them at arms length, until they had proven otherwise. Once they had met his expectations he was unlikely to let them leave his company. The younger Knox was constantly asking questions, observing, watching. He was hungry for knowledge and to explore and this hunger extended towards the physical and the academic. As an adult he's well learned due to his royal education and life experiences. He had a penchant for spinning tales and was well known for never playing fairly when it came to cards or a fight. In spite of his shortcomings, or perhaps because of them Knox was well liked among the crew of whatever ship he served on.
»»general Soul personality: Where Knox is a man of action Carlisle is a creature who opts to observe and bide his time.
